Our founding team spent over 5 years importing products from China, UAE, and the USA into African markets. We knew the suppliers, we knew the routes, and we knew every pitfall firsthand.

We dealt with unexpected taxes and customs fees that crushed our margins on arrival. We navigated unreliable logistics where shipments disappeared for weeks with no visibility. We suffered the classic “what I ordered vs. what I received” nightmare — wrong products, wrong quality, no recourse. And we struggled with paying international suppliers safely when wire transfers were slow and chargebacks were impossible.

When we talked to other African wholesalers, we realized we weren't alone. Every importer across Cameroon, Senegal, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire faced the exact same walls. The continent was full of driven entrepreneurs blocked by broken infrastructure and zero protection.

So we built Sellam. A platform where AI market research replaces guesswork, escrow payments protect every order, product verification eliminates quality surprises, and logistics are transparent from source to doorstep. Everything we wished had existed on day one.
